VEGAN IN THE CITY, WHERE TO EAT IN THE BAY AREA.
If you’re vegan and heading to the bay area (Oakland and San Francisco specifically), make sure to put these 5 restaurants on your list!
Vegan Bistro Donuts (Oakland)
Formerly known as Vegan Donut Gelato, this is hands down the best donuts you’ll ever taste! Notice I didn’t say the best “vegan” donuts because these are contenders for the best donuts overall! Get there early because they do tend to sell out.
Shizen (San Francsico)
Vegan Sushi bar & izakaya. Open for dinner only and reservations are required. I can not recommend this place enough. With their extensive menu and visually stunning dishes, trust me, you will NOT miss the meat.
Mensho Tokyo (San Francisco)
Ok, this restaurant is not exclusively Vegan but they do have a decent variety of vegan dishes and let me tell you, they are absolutely delicious! If you are craving ramen or authentic Japanese cuisine while in the city, look no further..
Wildseed (San Francisco)
There are actually two locations, one in San Francisco and one in Palo Alto. I visited the San Francisco location. Not only does this restaurant have a colorful and diverse food menu, they also have an extensive drink menu, with options for alcohol and non alcohol drinkers alike!
Rico Rico Vegano (Oakland)
If you are craving Mexican food, look no further. They have a fresh and unique twist on traditional dishes and let me tell you, they are winning at the vegan Mexican food game! The seating is limited but the food is worth having to eat it in your car if you can’t snag a table. I am serious!
I’ve been to numerous other vegan restaurants in the city and although many were definitely noteworthy, I am the worst at remembering names, so I can’t share them with you. This list of my favorites should keep you busy . . . and full though! :)
